About This Site
This site publishes contractor license requirements for 26 US jurisdictions, and every claim on it can be traced to an official source with the date it was verified. It is run as an independent research project by Miguel Iglesias Valenzuela — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by any state licensing board, legislature or agency.
01 How the research works
- Official sources only. Requirements, fees and classifications are read from statutes, agency pages and official lookups — never summarized from memory or third-party blogs.
- Every claim carries a source and a date. Source badges link straight to the official document, and each source records when it was last verified.
- Conflicts stay visible. When two official documents disagree — for example the minor-work exemption published as $500 by a CSLB FAQ and $1,000 by statute — the disagreement is published as an open conflict, never silently resolved. See the documented conflict.
- Unverified stays unpublished. Where the sources do not determine an answer, the page says NOT_VERIFIED or NOT_DETERMINED — a number is never guessed to fill a gap.
- An indexation gate checks the work. A page is only advertised to search engines after its facts pass validation and a reviewed page-index policy approves it; if either fails, the page is served noindex with the missing reasons listed on it.
02 What is covered — and what is not
26 jurisdictions are researched in depth. Every other state is visible on the coverage map but has no page: this site does not publish pages it has not verified against that state's own official sources. Coverage grows one jurisdiction at a time, through the same review every published page already passed.
03 What this site is not
- Not legal advice — reference information only; read the full terms of use.
- Not affiliated with any government body — agency names and logos appear only to identify the official source of a claim.
- Not a substitute for the authority — the licensing board is the final authority on any requirement; verify against the official lookup before relying on anything here.
- Not a quote or lead service — it does not refer visitors to contractors and earns nothing from the requirements it publishes.
04 Corrections and contact
Found something that no longer matches the official source? Write to contacto.webproyectos@gmail.com with the page URL and the official document — corrections backed by a source are how the dataset stays current. See the contact page for details, and the privacy policy for what this site does and does not collect.
