Florida Contractor License Lookup

The official way to verify any Florida contractor credential is DBPR's Verify Licensee portal. This page documents what the portal shows and when we verified it — it does NOT scrape it, and nothing on this site depends on the portal being reachable.

01 The official portal

DBPR Verify Licensee — official lookup S-FL-LOOKUP

Published by Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). We tested it live in a real browser on 2026-10-01 (the scripted fetcher receives HTTP 403 behind Cloudflare, so browser verification was used — recorded in our verification trail below).

03 Status vocabulary

DBPR's official glossary (read in the same browser session) defines the status terms the portal renders — for example Current, Involuntary Inactive, Delinquent, License Expired, Probation, Null & Void, Revoked, plus secondary terms Active and Inactive. S-FL-GLOSSARY

How this differs from California's lookup page

California's statuses are seeded as rows (official phrase + can-contract flag per status). Florida's are NOT yet: the shared status table has no jurisdiction column, so per-state rows would mix states dishonestly. Until that is modelled, treat the glossary above as observed vocabulary and confirm can-contract meaning on the portal itself — we will not guess it.

04 How to verify a license yourself

  1. Open the Verify Licensee portal.
  2. Search by license number if you have one (most reliable), otherwise by name or city/county under the Construction Industry category.
  3. Check the status and its expiry date on the detail page, plus the "data current as of" timestamp.
  4. For registered contractors, remember: the registration is only valid in the local jurisdictions the registrant reported — certified vs registered.

05 No scraping dependency

Design note

This site renders from its own verified database. The portal is linked, not scraped: if myfloridalicense is unreachable, every page here keeps working, and nothing we publish claims to be a live license status. The live status always comes from the official portal.
