Louisiana Contractor License Fees

Louisiana's fee structure is set by statute as caps: § 2156.C says fees "shall not exceed" the listed amounts, and the board may fix actual fees at or below them (reset at each July meeting, rule §131). The rows below are the caps, labeled as such — the board's current actual fees were not published on the pages read and are NOT_VERIFIED. No contractor bond exists in Louisiana law.

01 Statutory caps vs current charges

STATUTORY CAPS (§ 2156.C)+BOARD-SET ACTUAL FEES (rule §131)≠LOCAL PERMIT FEE (parish/municipal)≠NO BOND
  • The caps verbatim — "(1) Examination fee $50.00 (2) License fee $100.00 (3) Renewal fee $100.00 (4) Delinquent fee $50.00 (5) Home Improvement fee $50.00" — with the basic license fee "not more than one hundred dollars" and additional classifications a lesser board-set amount. (Rule LA-FEES.) S-LA-BLUE-BOOK
  • Also in the statute, not seeded as rows — the non-domiciled surcharge of up to $400 (§ 2156.D) and the $100-per-year education dedication on renewals with an optional opt-out election (§ 2156.K).
  • Renewal cycle — licenses expire on the anniversary of issue; licensees elect 1/2/3-year terms, but insurance-dependent licenses (the residential family) are annual-only; 15 days after expiration to renew without penalty, then the $50 delinquent fee cap. (Rule LA-RENEWAL.) S-LA-BLUE-BOOK
  • Current board fees withheld — rule §131 lets the board reset fees each July; the board's current schedule was not read this phase, so every current-charge claim is NOT_VERIFIED and never made.
  • Permit fees are local — parish/municipal building permits and fees are preserved by § 2160 and are LOCAL_AUTHORITY_REQUIRED.
