01 How the money works

$50 EXAM + $180 BASE+RECOVERY FUND $320 / $420 / $520→RENEWAL $505 / $605 / $705 (+$90 LATE)≠LOCAL PERMIT FEE (municipal)
  • Initial license — $180 base plus the fund tier gives $500, $600 or $700 of license and fund; add the separate $50 exam fee for $550, $650 or $750. Roofers pay $180 alone. (Rule MN-LICENSE-FEE.) S-MN-DLI-RBC-LICENSE
  • Recovery Fund fee — $320 under $1M, $420 from $1M to $5M, $520 over $5M, measured on gross receipts never reduced by costs; the fund replaces bonding for BC and CR. (Rule MN-RECOVERY-FUND.) S-MN-MCL-326B-89
  • Renewal — $505, $605 or $705 received before expiration, plus a $90 late fee after it; a lapsed renewal within two years owes the expired-period fees, the late fee and the current renewal. (Rule MN-RENEWAL-FEE.) S-MN-DLI-RENEWALS
  • Cycle and CE — two years ending March 31 (timely by March 1 under § 326B.885 subd. 1), 36 months for installers, and 14 hours of CE per two-year period with the $5 CE fee. (Rules MN-RENEWAL-2YR, MN-CE-14H.) S-MN-MCL-326B-885S-MN-MCL-326B-821
  • Registration fee — NOT_VERIFIED — § 326B.701 and DLI's page publish no amount, so none is stated here. (Rule MN-REGISTRATION.) S-MN-MCL-326B-701
