Minor Work / Handyman Requirements in New Hampshire
New Hampshire minor work: no state credential exists for general construction (the OPLC boards list has no contractor board), but an active NH electrician license is required to work with 30 volts or higher, apprentices must register, and asbestos-disturbing work needs a state licensed asbestos contractor with a 10-working-day notification — owner-occupied single-family homes have the homeowner exemption with duties. Every claim sourced and dated.
No statewide general-contractor license exists (verified absence) — The OPLC boards list (read 2026-10-05) contains no contractor, construction, general-contractor, home-improvement, roofing or remodeling board; the construction-relevant boards are the Electricians' Board, the Mechanical Licensing Board and the Home Inspectors board. No state-level general-contractor licence, registration or bond exists; building permits are issued by municipalities. S-NH-BOARDS-LIST

Homeowner exemption — single-family, owner-occupied abatement — NHDES verbatim: 'Homeowners who live in a single family dwelling in New Hampshire can personally conduct asbestos abatement activities in their own home. While being exempt from many of the requirements in Env-A 1800, owners must still wet the asbestos prior to removal; take care to cause minimal disturbance of the asbestos during stripping and handling operations; and properly package, label, document, transport and dispose of all asbestos waste resulting from the asbestos abatement activities.'
