Water Heater Replacement Requirements in New Hampshire
New Hampshire water-heater replacement splits by fuel: a gas unit touches fuel-gas piping and requires the fuel-gas licence (1,000 hours of field experience within 60 months for the piping installer, up to 500 heating-oil hours creditable, or a NH licensed plumber approved by the board in NFPA 54); an electric unit requires the electrician licence at the 30-volt threshold; the water-side connections stay inside the plumbing scope. Every claim sourced and dated.
Fuel-gas fitter experience standards (RSA 153:28, set by rule) — RSA 153:28, I(a) verbatim: the board's rules shall require for the fuel gas installation technician 1,000 hours of field experience (or equivalent in an approved educational setting) within a 60-month period relevant to the installation, servicing, and repair of gas appliances or equipment, with up to 500 hours of heating-oil experience creditable; for the fuel gas service technician 2,000 hours within a 60-month period (up to 750 creditable); for the fuel gas piping installer 1,000 hours within a 60-month period relevant to the installation of gas piping (up to 500 creditable). Scope boundary (XIV): plumbing 'shall not apply beyond the first fitting beyond the foundation wall of the building or 5 feet of pipe from the building.' S-NH-RSA-153-27
