Tennessee Contractor License Classifications
Tennessee's 133 seeded classifications sit on one licence and four credential shapes: the Board for Licensing Contractors' single contractor licence carries the whole surface — the building core (BC full down to BC-A/r's course-in-lieu tier), the 34 building categories and the S-specialties, the heavy/highway HC and HRA ladders, the mechanical CMC ladder and the electrical CE family — and three narrower sub-threshold credentials answer the work the line leaves behind: HIC (nine counties, $3,000–$24,999), LLE and LLP (under $25,000). There is no roofer, no solar and no HVAC-only licence — those absences are seeded as absences.
01 One licence — what is actually classified

- One licence, a code, and a dollar size — every classification above the line is a code on the same contractor's licence; the licence's monetary limit (10 × the lesser of working capital or net worth, unlimited at $300,000 in both) is what scales each code. The limit is chosen by balance sheet, so it travels with the licence rather than multiplying rows. S-TN-BLC-CONTRACTOR

- The outline carries exam flags — trade exams on BC, CE, CE-A, CE-B, CE-H, CE-J (>70 volts), CE-K and CE-L; no trade exam on CE-C conduit, CE-D alarms up to 70 volts, CE-E signs, CE-F telephone, CE-G cable TV or CE-I temperature controls — and everyone still owes the Business & Law exam.
